Held at the historic Presidential Suite at Washington, D.C’s Union Station, BuildIT was honored to participate in a Construction Inclusion Week event produced by two of the largest General Contractors in the United States: Flatiron and Turner Construction who have been long-time partners with us.
The Presidential Suite at Union Station was originally built for presidents to safely await their travels or to welcome world leaders and dignitaries to the nation’s capital.
The event featured panelists from the United States Department of Transportation’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Amtrak, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, the Mayor’s office of Washington, D.C., COMTO Headquarters, Flatiron, Turner Construction, ENR, Strum Contracting, and BuildIT.
Topics discussed at the 4-hour long event included: the state of the DBE program in the United States, new resources launched by the US DOT to support minority and women-owned businesses, workforce development as it relates to the funding of key infrastructure projects throughout the United States, meaningful small business support services provided by key governmental agencies at the local, regional, state and federal levels, ‘best in class’ Mentor-Protégé Programs that are making a direct/positive impact on LGBT, Minority, Women, and Veteran businesses and more.
BuildIT looks forward to serving on the Working Group for 2025’s installment of this historic event!
